Getting a Physical in El Paso

Bookmark and Share

One of the services that a clinic in El Paso can offer is sports or school physicals to their patients. These exams are very important because they will tell the patient whether they are physically fit to participate in sports or if there might be something wrong with them health wise.

There are several goals of these exams. Like we discussed above, the main purpose of a sports physical is to see if the athlete is in good health. But this examination is in place to assess the patient’s present fitness level, look at any existing injuries of the patient and detect poor conditioning that may put the athlete at increased risk.

A question that is often asked concerning sports physicals is how often they are needed. This will vary on what activity the patient is participating in and what the school guidelines are. But for the most part, you will need to get a sports physical annually. And this exam will be needed to be done before that patient can participate in any activity involving the sport.
There are times when a patient will not be given the okay to play sports. According to Dr. Sami F. Rifat, some of the more common reasons why people cannot participate include: dizziness with exercise, asthma history, unfavorable body mass index, systolic BP elevation, visual acuity defect, presence of a heart murmur and musculoskeletal abnormality.
